Well Exceeded our Expectations!

In a letter received today (26th October 2007), by the Bishop of Ferns, Dr. Denis Brennan, Fr. Ian Buckmaster, Provincial Superior of the Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers), informed Bishop Brennan that the recent permission for the Order to preach in the Churches of the diocese of Ferns, now completed, had realised €102,010.88, “a very large sum of money… which well exceeded our expectations.”

Fr. Buckmaster went on to say: “all those priests of the Order who participated were very much impressed by the welcome given to them by the priests of the Diocese of Ferns and by the generosity of the faithful.”

He asked Bishop Brennan to “assure all that we will remember them in our Masses and prayers". Bishop Brennan joins with Fr. Buckmaster and extends his gratitude to priests and people in the diocese for their generosity.

Note: The diocese extends permission to a different Missionary Religious Order to preach in its churches each year and to request the support of the faithful for their missionary work abroad. Ends
